LONG BEACH : Longtime Patient Wills $3.4 Million to Hospital
- Share via
St. Mary Medical Center has received a $3.4-million bequest from Long Beach philanthropist Jane Parr, who died at the hospital Feb. 17, shortly before her 101st birthday.
She had been under the care of the hospital’s nursing facility for the last 15 years, officials said.
The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, who run the 551-bed facility as part of a nationwide health care network, are considering using the funds to add an obstetrics clinic and acquire equipment for their neonatal, intensive care and cardiology units.
Parr and her late husband, John Parr, previously donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the hospital, much of it going toward a conference facility, the Parr Health Enhancement Center.
