Quaker to Cut 600 Jobs: Slimming down after its purchase of Snapple beverages and the sale of its pet food businesses, the maker of breakfast and convenience foods and Gatorade beverages said it will cut jobs in the United States and Canada, where it employs 10,000 people. The job losses will affect various middle-management employees and other functions. A spokesman for Quaker said some senior-level positions will be eliminated.
