Rummage Sale Raises $7,500 for Area School

Students and parents from seven Newport Beach and Costa Mesa schools recently raised $7,500 with a community rummage sale to help Whittier Elementary School, which is also in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District.

“In an effort to equalize the opportunities for all the kids in our (school attendance) zone, the staff and parents from all schools agreed to support and coordinate the rummage sale,” said Ensign Intermediate School Principal Scott Paulsen.

PTAs from the seven district schools--Newport, Newport Heights, Mariners, Heinz Kaiser and Whittier elementary schools, Ensign Intermediate School and Newport Harbor High School--organized the sale and collected goods in their neighborhoods to aid Whittier Elementary.
