WHITTIER : Fumes Force Closure of Two Classrooms

Share

School officials have closed off two classrooms at Lincoln Elementary School after students complained of nauseating fumes.

About 60 students have been moved to Andrews Elementary, several miles away. Supt. Neal Avery said the students will not return to the classrooms until the source of the fumes is identified.

Fire and gas inspectors have visited the rooms several times, but failed to detect toxic fumes or materials, Avery said.

A county health official said the problems were caused by moisture in the ground and do not threaten the health of students or teachers.
