Liberal Left Still Doesn’t Get It Over Water Usage

Share

Your editorial March 12 regarding water usage in the San Fernando Valley demonstrated again that the liberal left still does not get it.

The editorial compared the usage of water to gas-guzzling cars. The argument was, why should people with cars that get good mileage pay for those that get bad mileage? They should not and do not because gas-guzzlers use more gas and therefore pay more.

With regard to water, people who live in hotter areas, like the Valley, use more water and pay more because they use more water. However, they also pay more because the water rate structure is indexed. The more we use, the higher the rate is per unit.

How would we like it if the first five gallons of gas were $1.39 a gallon, but the next five gallons were $2.78 and every gallon over 10 gallons were $4.17? Well, that is what the water rates are. That is what happens in the Valley. The same thing is true for income taxes. Those who have, pay more--those who are successful are punished. It is the American (liberal) way.
