COSTA MESA : Witnesses to Fatal 2-Car Crash Sought

Share

Police are searching for witnesses to a fatal two-car traffic accident Saturday in which a passenger in one car was killed and both drivers were arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, officials said.

The accident occurred at 3 a.m. at Bristol Street and Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa investigator Larry Torres said. Mark Ward, 21, of Riverside was ejected from a green 1978 Toyota Corolla after it collided with a silver 1989 Ford Probe, Torres said. Ward was killed when the Toyota rolled over him, he said.

Alberto Arellano, 20, of Santa Ana was driving the Toyota, while David Hill, 25, of Pasadena drove the Ford, Torres said. Both men were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, Torres said, and police are hoping that a witness to the accident may indicate whether vehicular manslaughter charges should be filed against either driver.
