THOUSAND OAKS : City Plans to Collect Household Toxics

Share

Thousand Oaks residents interested in doing a little spring cleaning in their garages can unload toxic materials at a citywide drop-off day Saturday.

The city’s Public Works Department will accept auto chemicals, paint products and batteries, as well as household, pool and photography chemicals. No business, radioactive or infectious wastes will be accepted.

Residents are limited to five gallons of toxics or 50 pounds per drop-off. To speed the process, city staff members are requesting that residents call for an appointment at 449-SAVE.

In October, the department collected 78 tons of toxic waste.

The event is open to all residents of Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Oak Park, Bell Canyon, the Santa Rosa Valley and Lake Sherwood. If space is available, Simi Valley and Moorpark residents may be able to participate.
