NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME / UCLA 89, ARKANSAS 78 : SPOTLIGHT : BRUIN KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT

Share

Another UCLA dynasty? Freshman Kris Johnson, who did not play in Monday’s final, thinks the Bruins have a shot.

“We’ve learned so much from this experience and we have a strong core of our squad coming back next season,” said Johnson, son of former UCLA great Marques Johnson. “We have guys who did not play much in the tournament in Ike (Nwankwo, a 6-11 sophomore), omma’A (Givens, a 6-10 freshman) and myself ready to step up, along with Cameron (Dollar), Toby and J.R. (Henderson).

“Basically, we have the makings of a dynasty. Arkansas had a chance this year to repeat but they were very cocky this year. We’re going to be humble champions who will be ready to defend our crown knowing that nothing is going to be given to us.”
