County Extends Lease on Shopping Center
Ventura County supervisors have approved a 10-year lease extension for the operator of an Oxnard shopping center, a move that will ultimately save the county tens of thousands of dollars.
In exchange for the extension granted Tuesday, Mervyn Hecht, operator of the Harbor Landing shopping center, agreed to repair, maintain and landscape two traffic medians near Channel Islands and Harbor boulevards. Officials estimate that this will save the county about $175,000.
Hecht told officials that he sought the lease extension because he is interested in refinancing improvements he has made to the property since signing his initial lease with the county in 1989.
The 10-year extension will bring Hecht’s remaining lease at the site to 39 years.
