Auditions

Teatro de las Americas will hold auditions Friday and Sunday for its upcoming production, in Spanish, of “La Estanquera de Vallecas,” by contemporary playwright Josi Luis Alonso de Santos. Director Christina Aerenlund is looking for actors to portray an old woman, her thin, young granddaughter, and various robbers and policemen. All roles are open. Auditions are scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at El Concilio del Condado de Ventura, 625 N. A St. in Oxnard. Director Jere-Rae Mansfield will hold auditions from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday for the Conejo Players’ version of “Love Letters.” The Conejo Players will use several different pairs of lovers in the play, which will be performed June 25-July 16. The script calls for one man and one woman, ages 30 to 50, who relive their relationship by reading love letters they have exchanged over the years. The Conejo Players will also hold auditions Sunday through Tuesday for its upcoming version of “Wait Until Dark.” The cast includes several men and women, 25 to 50, and a girl, 9-12. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Auditions will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Conejo Players Theater, 351 S. Auditions will also be held Sunday and Monday for a melodrama, title yet unspecified, to be produced by the Ojai Art Center between June 16 and July 8. Bill Spellman has written, they tell us, “a fun new musical play with all the old cliches,” and director Evelyn Raft is looking for a classic young hero and heroine, a kindly uncle-guardian, the villain-town mayor, an Irish cop, a pretty tea shop owner, a mature woman and males of various ages to play assorted supporting roles. Auditions will be held both nights beginning at 7 p.m. at the Ojai Center for the Arts, 113 S. Montgomery St. in Ojai. For further information, call 649-3382.
