MORE MEASLES: Ventura County’s measles epidemic is continuing. . . . Since January, 68 cases have been confirmed and new cases are popping up at a rate of about three a week. “We’re still seeing adult (cases), which is very unusual,” said public health nurse Lin Glusac. The epidemic won’t be declared officially over until no cases are reported for five weeks. Anyone with measles symptoms--such as a rash or fever--can call health officials at 652-5918 in Ventura, 385-8652 in Oxnard, or 584-4887 in Simi Valley.

GOOD FRIENDS: The painting shows a beaming Ronald and Nancy Reagan and is set to go on display at the presidential library . . . not the Reagan library near Simi Valley, but the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda. The work, with the White House in the background and Fourth of July revelers on the lawn, is among 33 Charles Wysocki originals in the Nixon exhibit, which opens April 14. “There’s been a longtime friendship between the Reagans and the Nixons,” said Kevin Cartwright, a Nixon library official. “It goes back many more years than people would think.”

SPRING FLING: Two east Ventura County bands are taking their shows on the road for spring break (B4). . . . For other students, though, spring vacation doesn’t always mean getting away from the books. In Ventura, some students at year-round schools spent their two-week spring break--which winds up today--in optional enrichment courses, said Assistant Supt. Patricia Chandler. Ventura students on traditional schedules will be off next week--but they’re probably happy to know that extra classes are not being offered for their spring break.
