SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Randy McGraw’s fourth victory at Ventura Raceway did not come easy.

The Ventura stock car racer had Goleta’s Greg Voight on his rear bumper from the second lap until the finish of Friday’s 20-lap street stock feature.

“It was a long 20 laps,” McGraw said.

Two car lengths separated the pair at the finish, with defending track champion Paul Moore in third place, one-third of a lap back.

McGraw grabbed the lead on the fourth lap when a flat tire forced Bill Bartels to slow on the second turn.

In the 15-lap mini-stock main, Ernie Malone of Casitas Springs passed Northridge’s Fred Woodward with one lap remaining and held on for the victory.

Ventura’s Doug Thornton won the 15-lap International Motor Contest Assn. modified feature.

Oxnard’s Tracy Jewett went wire to wire in the 12-lap Pony Stock Main, beating out her brother, Jim Jewett Jr.
