A nude man who led sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase wound up baring it all in handcuffs, not for his lack of clothes but for allegedly failing to cooperate.

Frank Seip of Los Gatos, 33, was sitting in his pickup truck about 10 p.m. Thursday when a deputy pulled up behind him and Seip took off, Santa Clara County sheriff’s Lt. Jim Huber said.

Seip led deputies on a two-mile chase that ended when he skidded into an embankment, then backed his truck into the deputy’s squad car.

After he was handcuffed, Seip broke loose, jumped off an embankment, ran down a hillside and took off, deputies said. They caught up to him an hour later when they found him hiding in a car on a farm, Huber said.

It is not illegal to drive in the buff, but it is illegal to avoid arrest.

Seip was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, recklessly evading police, attempting escape, possessing narcotics and assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials say they did not know why he was not dressed.
