Obituaries : * Robert Wrathall, 74; School Psychologist
Robert Wrathall of Ventura, a school psychologist who later entered private practice, has died. He was 74.
June Wrathall said her husband was good at helping people with their problems. “I guess that’s why he did it.”
Born in Arizona, Wrathall moved to Pasadena as a boy. He served in the infantry in Italy in World War II, then returned to California, where he studied psychology at Los Angeles State College.
He was a psychologist in the Bassett school district in the San Gabriel Valley until the mid-1960s, when he entered private practice in Hacienda Heights.
He retired in 1974, then moved to Ventura three years ago.
He enjoyed woodworking, and crafted cabinets as well as a loom his wife uses for weaving. He also biked 20 miles a day until heart trouble and emphysema forced him to stop, his wife said.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Andaya of Santa Monica and Leila Wrathall of Portland, Ore., and a son, William Robert Wrathall of Ontario, Calif.
Also surviving are two brothers, Paul Wrathall of Monrovia and John Wrathall of Portland, Ore., and eight grandchildren.
