Unidentified Man Killed After Running Into Path of Truck
A man was struck and killed by a pickup traveling south on Beach Boulevard at Chapman Avenue on Sunday night, police said.
Witnesses told sheriff’s officials that the victim appeared to be running away from people who were chasing him out of a Home Base store parking lot. Police, however, could not find those people.
Police did not cite the driver.
“There was no indication the driver had done anything wrong,” said Lt. Tom Garner. “It looked like the guy ran in front of a car that had a green light.”
Garner said that the victim, who appeared to be in his mid-20s, did not carry any identification.
After the accident, the man was rushed to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
