California Exports Up 15.5%: Fueled by strong growth in shipments to Asia and Europe, exports rose to $81.2 billion and helped create 200,000 jobs in 1994, Gov. Pete Wilson said. California continues to be the No. 1 exporting state in the nation, Wilson said, followed by Texas, with $59.9 billion in exports, and New York, with $34 billion. California’s strongest export categories in 1994 included electronics and electrical equipment, which rose 25.1%; industrial machinery and computer equipment, which grew 14.7%, and transportation equipment, which grew 11.1%.
