ENVIRONMENT : Low-Flush Toilets Are Offered Free

Customers of the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District can get free low-flush toilets April 22 at South Hills High School in West Covina and May 13 at Baldwin Park High School.

The area includes Arcadia, Baldwin Park, Bassett, Bradbury, Duarte, El Monte, Irwindale, La Puente, Monrovia, Rosemead, San Gabriel, South El Monte, South San Gabriel, South Pasadena, Temple City and Valinda. The district also includes portions of Azusa, Covina, Glendora, Hacienda Heights, City of Industry, Montebello, Monterey Park and West Covina.

Recipients of the free toilets must sign up before the event and return their old toilet two weeks after the giveaway dates to be recycled for use as road base. For more information, call (818) 443-2297.

South Hills High School is at 645 S. Barranca St. in West Covina. Baldwin Park High is at 3900 N. Puente Ave. in Baldwin Park.

Both giveaways, held to encourage water conservation, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
