VENTURA : Tools Sought to Help Build Playground

Share

Supporters of Ventura’s first community-built park are asking for tools to help build the Rainbow Bridge Community Playground.

Residents can drop off tools at Blanche Reynolds School from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Still needed are hammers, wheelbarrows, levels, crowbars, circular saws and other construction equipment.

The tools will be locked up and labeled until ready to use during park construction next week, and organizers promise to return them in good condition.

Organizer Lori Z said supporters still need to raise $20,000 to build the 10,000-square-foot park. They have collected $80,000 in equipment and cash so far.

“We’ll just build as much as we can build and then take donations later,” Z said. “That might mean leaving out a slide or two for now.”

Residents who want to help build the park can volunteer for any four-hour shift between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. from Wednesday through April 23. For information, call 641-5409.
