SIMI VALLEY : Plane Piloted by Area Man Still Missing

The search for a private plane piloted by a Simi Valley man proved fruitless for the third straight day Friday.
Sheriff’s departments in western New Mexico received no reports of the plane, piloted by Don Muchmore, a recently retired Ventura County sheriff’s deputy.
Muchmore’s wife, Peggy, and her son, 18-year-old Brandon Miller, along with Miller’s friend, 17-year-old Venessa Gonzalez, were aboard the Cessna 182. The four live in Simi Valley.
The plane was last seen Tuesday at Coronado Airport in Albuquerque during a trip from Arkansas to Santa Paula Airport.
“They stopped at Coronado because of very turbulent winds,” Pat Norvell, a Civil Air Patrol spokesman, said. “Some of the passengers were airsick.”
Norvell said the plane was scheduled to land in eastern Arizona.
Searchers were hampered by bad weather throughout the week.
