Company Town : Disney Insiders Litvack, Bollenbach Named to Board

Two Walt Disney Co. insiders who are key members of Chief Executive Michael D. Eisner’s revamped management team were named to the company’s board of directors Monday.

Sanford M. Litvack, 58, senior executive vice president and chief of corporate operations, was named to the board along with Stephen F. Bollenbach, 52, who was recently named Disney’s chief financial officer.

Litvack is a lawyer who in the 1970s was the nation’s top antitrust lawyer while a Justice Department official in the Carter Administration. Over the past year, he has taken on an increasingly bigger role at Disney, assuming many of the tasks formerly handled by the late Disney president, Frank G. Wells. Litvack is widely regarded by Disney watchers as a de facto No. 2 to Eisner at the company.
