The Mighty Ducks plan to move their minor league affiliation to the American Hockey League next season and are negotiating with the expansion franchise in Baltimore, club President Tony Tavares said.

The Ducks have had partial affiliations with the San Diego Gulls of the International Hockey League--who will become the Los Angeles Ice Dogs next season--as well as the Greensboro Monarchs of the East Coast Hockey League. However, the Ducks have been unhappy with the playing time of some of their players in San Diego and team officials say the IHL, which has a lot of former NHL veterans on teams, no longer is a good developmental league for young players.
