Aliso Niguel 5, University 1 (8)--Nicole Frank’s bases-loaded single in the eighth broke the 1-1 tie for Aliso Niguel (4-14, 3-2).

Laguna Beach 4, Estancia 2--Pitcher Jessica Roche had two RBIs, and Jennifer Roche homered for Laguna Beach (5-8-2, 1-4).

In the Academy League:

Connelly 13, Capistrano Valley Christian 2 (5, mercy)--Rowena Rana homered, doubled and had two RBIs for Connelly (9-2, 5-1).

St. Margaret’s 3, Liberty Christian 2--Amber Arnold pitched a one-hitter, struck out 14 and had an RBI, and Gina Arreola’s two RBIs in the bottom of the seventh led St. Margaret’s (5-7, 3-1).

In the Century League:

Foothill 7, Canyon 0--Michelle Churnock’s four hits, two runs and two stolen bases led No. 1 Foothill (18-2, 4-1). Lauren Bauer and Robin Tessman had two RBIs apiece. a

Orange 6, El Modena 2--Dara Marzolo had a two-run triple in the sixth for Orange (9-8, 3-2).

Santa Ana Valley 2, Villa Park 1--One day after No. 10 Villa Park upset Foothill--No. 1 in Orange County and No. 2 in the state--the Spartans were upset by last-place Santa Ana Valley (4-17, 1-4). Villa Park (14-8, 3-2) started its No. 3 pitcher and the Falcons scored twice in the third inning. Diana Paniagua (2-11) pitched a complete game for Valley, striking out four, and Snow Nguyen’s seventh inning, over-the-shoulder catch in center field preserved the victory.

In the Empire League:

El Dorado 10, Loara 0 (5, mercy)--Carmen LoNigro had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for No. 8 El Dorado (12-7, 4-1).

Kennedy 6, Century 0--Freshman Nichole Crouse tossed her first no-hitter, striking out nine, as Kennedy (14-7, 4-0) won for the 12th time in 13 games.

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills 3, Sonora 2 (8)--Jennifer Deane struck out nine and had two hits for Sunny Hills (6-10, 5-0). Stephanie Newhouse scored the winning run on an error by Sonora (12-11, 2-3).

In the Garden Grove League:

Bolsa Grande 4, Santiago 0--Jill Tantirdini had two hits and two RBIs for Bolsa Grande (9-7, 4-4).

In the Olympic League:

Brethren Christian 3, Orange Lutheran 0--Brooke Hofstetter pitched a perfect game and struck out 16 for Brethren Christian (9-6, 2-2), which didn’t get any hits off Tiffany Johnson and Michelle Harrison. Orange Lutheran is 7-4, 0-4.

Whittier Christian 6, Ontario Christian 5--Leah Borders homered in the seventh to lift the Heralds (5-8, 2-3).

In the Orange League:

Magnolia 2, Brea Olinda 1--Chrissy Hartman’s three innings of scoreless relief earned her the victory for Magnolia (12-6-1, 4-1). Brea is 11-9, 2-3.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley 6, Esperanza 0--Laurie Gillis had three hits, a homer and three RBIs for Fountain Valley (13-10, 4-1).

Los Alamitos 4, Huntington Beach 1--Cyndi Tredway had three hits, tripled and scored twice, and Dinha Mead had two RBIs for No. 5 Los Alamitos (15-3, 3-1).

Marina 2, Edison 1--Faith Fuata’s single in the top of the sixth inning drove in Becky Thompson with the winning run for No. 4 Marina (14-5, 4-1). Winning pitcher Marcy Crouch struck out 12. Edison is 5-13, 0-5.
