Refurbished Center Holds Open House
The newly refurbished Maple Community Center in Fullerton held an open house Friday to introduce about 200 residents and local officials to the activities and services it offers.
Housed in what was built in 1929 as a kindergarten through 12th-grade school, the center now boasts new air conditioning and heating, refurbished rooms and playgrounds. The city’s Redevelopment Agency spent more than $540,000 on the project.
Among the services provided at Maple are a state-run preschool program, a child-care center, a child-abuse prevention program, parenting and English classes, job training, Scout troops, food and clothing distribution centers.
All of the services are open to neighborhood children and their families, many of whom have limited incomes.
