FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Parking Relief on Its Way

Share

Residents living close to Mile Square Regional Park will get relief from park-goers parking in their neighborhoods to attend special events this month at the popular recreation spot.

The city has approved a new parking permit program that limits street parking on:

* May 14, which is Mother’s Day.

* May 20 for the Scout O’Rama, a Boys Scout event.

* May 29, Memorial Day.

“It helps the people living in the neighborhoods,” said Mayor Guy Carrozzo.

Parking permits are free for nearby residents, said Sally Franz, the city’s community services manager. Signs will be posted and barricades will be placed in neighborhoods along Euclid Street and Edinger Avenue, Franz said.

The City Council approved the permit program April 18. Franz said city staff members also are investigating other ways to reduce overflow parking in neighborhoods and isolate residents from happenings at the park.
