THOUSAND OAKS : Cal Lutheran Teacher, Students Honored
Six Ventura County students and a Thousand Oaks geology teacher were among those honored recently at Cal Lutheran University’s annual Honors Day.
Susan Bauguss of Oxnard, Kelly Borchard of Camarillo, Laura Hammitt of Ventura, Nancy Wold of Simi Valley, and Patricia Zeug and Sirrel Maldonado of Thousand Oaks were selected to the Thousand Oaks university’s Scholastic Honor Society. It is the highest academic honor at the university, officials said.
Linda Ritterbush, chairwoman of the university’s geology department, received the first-ever President’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
The school last Friday also honored two poets with the Mark Van Doren Poetry Prize. They were Meldin Merrill of Thousand Oaks and George Gowaseb of Windhoek, Namibia.
