In the Century League:

Foothill wins--Foothill’s James Thornton, who shared top honors with Villa Park’s Brian Pharris and Orange’s Ryan Christiensen, won the 500 freestyle (4:58.30) for the league champions. Pharris won the 200 freestyle (1:47.05) and the 100 butterfly (54.57) and Christiensen won the 100 freestyle (48.60).

In the Empire League:

El Dorado wins--Kennedy’s Tim Martin won the 200 freestyle (1:44.55) and the 500 freestyle (4:37.23).

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills wins--Hironari Sakoda won the 200 individual medley (2:06.70) and the 100 butterfly (53.73) for Sunny Hills. Sonora’s Andy Wyse was the most valuable swimmer. He won the 50 freestyle (22.63) and swam on the winning 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Sonora’s Aaron Jenkins, the two-time defending Southern Section champion, set the league diving record with a score of 504.10.

In the Golden West League:

Tustin wins--Tustin’s Jim Lowe won the 200 freestyle (1:47.76) and 100 freestyle (48.54) and Servite’s Brian Heifferon won the 50 freestyle (22.24).

In the Century League girls’ swimming finals:

Foothill wins--The Knights won the meet without winning an event. Amber Wines set a new league-record in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.84) and the 200 individual medley (2:12.49) for Santa Ana Valley.

In the Empire League:

El Dorado wins--El Dorado’s Nancy Jo won the 200 freestyle (1:53.58) and the 100 butterfly (59.18).

In the Freeway League:

Sunny Hills wins--Lisa Liu from Sunny Hills was the meet’s top swimmer, placing first in the 50 freestyle (25.10) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.13).

In the Golden West League:

Rosary wins--Rosary’s Mai Khonh Nguyen finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:57.04) and 100 butterfly (1:01.6) and Hablla Younis won the 100 freestyle (55.32).
