KIEV —
Ukraine this weekend introduces its first domestically produced coin in centuries--a commemorative coin worth about $1.30 to mark the Allied victory in World War II.
Central bank chairman Viktor Yushchenko Friday displayed to journalists the nickel-copper coin with a face value of 200,000 karbovanets.
Ukraine has had no coins at all since the collapse of the Soviet Union.
