Schering in $200-Million Investment: The drug company has formally begun building a bulk chemical manufacturing plant in Singapore as part of its plans to expand in Asia. The plant will make ingredients for Madison, N.J.-based Schering-Plough Corp.’s drug and dermatological products such as claritin, eulexin, proventil and normodyne. The plant is Schering’s second in Asia and is expected to be completed by the end of 1996, with production to start in mid-1997. Schering’s first Asian plant, costing $37 million, is a joint venture with two Chinese counterparts in Shanghai. It is expected to start production early next year.
