California Wood Opens Its 4th Recycling Plant
Compiled by Jack Searles
California Wood Recycling Inc., an Oxnard-based firm, has opened its fourth facility for recycling yard waste and other material.
Mayor Sandy Gaggero of Carpinteria attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony late last month at the new location on Carpinteria Avenue.
Founded 50 years ago, California Wood is a family owned concern that recycles 50,000 tons of yard cuttings annually. The company’s other recycling sites are in Ventura, Ojai and Simi Valley.
California Wood sells about 40% of its material to bio-fuel producers. It processes the remainder into mulch, which is sold on the retail market.
The company merged in 1994 with Agromin, a Camarillo soil products firm that now helps market California Wood’s material.
