THOUSAND OAKS : Council Candidate Enters Guilty Plea
Thousand Oaks City Council candidate Lance Winslow pleaded guilty to driving without a license Monday. He is scheduled to be sentenced May 30.
Two other charges against Winslow were dropped during the arraignment: operating an unregistered vehicle and bouncing a check paying the fine for another offense of driving without a valid license.
A warrant for Winslow’s arrest was issued last Tuesday when he failed to appear at an arraignment on charges that he drove without a license April 4. He appeared in court the following day, saying he did not know about the hearing and promised to appear for Monday’s arraignment.
The mobile carwash operator--one of six candidates vying for a council seat June 6--spent about 15 days in jail in 1988 for bouncing paychecks to employees.
In 1989, Winslow served 20 days for unpaid parking tickets.
