MasterCard, Scientists to Develop Plan to Track Fraud: The company said it has teamed up with researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory to create a computer model for detecting credit card fraud. The scientists will use advanced technologies to come up with ways of predicting whether a card is being used fraudulently. Initial testing with Los Alamos should be completed by this summer. MasterCard International will begin pilot tests with selected members by next spring. More than 270 million MasterCards are in use worldwide.
