Orange County Voices : COMMENTARY ON MOTHER’S DAY : ‘They Make You Feel Like You’re Going to Explode of Happiness’

Share

On Mother’s Day, what could be more meaningful than a child’s thoughts about Mom? Elaine Wiener asked the children in her class at the Garden Grove Unified School District’s Ethan B. Allen Elementary School in Fountain Valley for their sentiments.

Here are some of their responses:

Mothers are important because they help you learn. Moms make you feel like your the specialest kid in the world. Mothers are funny and loving. Mothers are important because you wouldn’t even be alive without them. Moms always forget things like their coffee. Moms yell a lot but it helps you learn. Every mom is the best mom, of course. Moms are better than candy, cookies and ice cream.

My mom loves me very much. My mom cooks the best dinner. She always tucks me in my bed at night. When I lose my teddy bear she always finds it. My mom is beautiful, smart, and nice. My mom is kind of short, but I still love my mom anyway. My mom is sometimes funny. She loves my little sister, Katie, a lot, too. When my sister and I start fighting she always makes us stop. I love my mom a lot.

I think having a mother is the most important thing in the family because the mother basically takes care of the family and cooks most of the time. My mother loves me and family very much.

A mother will help if you ask her. But sometimes your mother will see you are having trouble. Then she will ask you. I love my mother very much.

My mom is a mom of speed. She is nice and hard on the target called work. She is a good artist and cleans the house, does the laundry, picks me up from school and drops me off and does gardening.

I love her and nobody is going to stop me from loving her.

My mother is very smart, nice, and beautiful. She loves me, kisses me, and hugs me. She is a little tall, more short, a little in the middle. My mom works really hard to take care of me and cooks for me. She only got to play with me for a little bit. She has three sisters and one brother.

My mother is the best person that I like and love on earth. My mom also has to take care of my big brother, too. She only plays with me on weekends for a little bit because she cooks and she does her taxes. My mom is a little strict.

My mom has to take care of five kids, and I’m one. My mommy has one baby boy, one 5-year-old boy, one 9-year-old boy, and one 11-year-old boy, to take care of, also. She’s very busy. My mother plays with me when I’m bored if she isn’t too busy. My mom helps me with my homework when I’m having trouble with it. My mommy is terrific. I love my mother, and my mother loves me.

My mommy is great. Do you know why? I sure do. She does a lot of activities with me. She loves me. And the best thing about having a mom is when she hugs you and kisses you.

The thing I like a lot about her is she likes to entertain me. It was funny when she said, “I don’t have a dime.” Then a dime fell out of her pocket. That was so funny.

For some reason she’s always on thephone. But she likes to cook. So cooking makes up for being on the phone.

I love my mommy.

I love my mom because she is so understanding. When my dad gets mad my mom covers for me a little. My mom says I’m the luckiest kid on earth. I am, too, because my mom is the best.

My mom has a really good sense of humor. My mom just got some spoons for root beer floats. Guess what? They had straws attached to it! When there is music on, she dances with me. But I don’t care what mom is like. I will still love her. She will always love me, too.

My mom is wonderful because she works very hard but she spends a lot of time with me. She is beautiful and nice and gentle. My mom is an engineer, and she is raising two children.

I love my mom because she spends the time to take care of me. She tucks me in bed every night.

I love my mom because my mom lets me go shopping with her, and she lets me help her cook.

My mom is the best mom in the whole world because she cooks and patches up the holes in my jeans.

She also lets me play at my friend’s house, and sometimes she lets me sleep at my friend’s house.

My mom is very nice. I love it when she tucks me in at bedtime. I’m the luckiest kid in the world.

Mothers are special because they take care of you. They make you feel like you’re going to explode of happiness. They tuck you in at night and they read you bedtime stories. They make you laugh and giggle a lot. They hug you. You feel so safe in their arms.
