A Case of Grace

After reading Mary Williams Walsh’s article about the Benedictine nuns of St. Gertrude’s cloister in Alexanderdorf, Germany (“They Survived Hiter. They Survived Communism. Can They Survive Freedom?” April 2), I smiled and felt a sense of peace, pleased by the knowledge of this remarkable oasis where “the love of music and intelligent companionship”--and compassion--thrive in an area thought by most to be devoid of all three graces.
