UAL to Meet in Los Angeles: The parent of United Airlines will hold its annual meeting Thursday at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel--a meeting that’s significant for several reasons. It will be the stockholders’ first annual gathering since most of UAL’s employees bought a controlling 55% of the company last summer, in exchange for wage and work-rule concessions. The meeting also will enable UAL to update investors on its risky expansion strategy, which includes its burgeoning shuttle service in California and other Western states that was luaunched last fall. UAL also will use Thursday to introduce United’s new Boeing 777 jumbo jet to Los Angeles, one day after the carrier--which operates 550 aircraft overall--takes delivery of the 777 at Boeing’s headquarters in Seattle.
