The Westminster School District has won state grants worth $5,000 to help promote child care programs at Ada E. Clegg and Finley elementary schools.

The grants will be used to print brochures and other materials to publicize the Extended School Program in English, Spanish and Vietnamese, district spokeswoman Audrey Brown said.

The program offers care before and after school, from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., at most elementary schools throughout the district.

Open to all students, the program offers homework assistance, sports, art and other recreational activities.

Weekly tuition is between $17.50 and $52.50, depending on the amount of time students attend, Brown said.
