Cray Research Names New Chairman: The Eagan, Minn.-based computer company said J. Phillip Samper, 60, former vice chairman of Eastman Kodak Co. and president of Sun Microsystems Computer Corp., will succeed John F. Carlson, who retired as chairman this month. Samper was named president of Sun Microsystems Computer Corp. and corporate executive officer of parent Sun Microsystems Inc. in February 1994.
