Dissenting Views on Donald Koll and His Legacy

Share

It is abundantly clear that Don Koll’s legacy to his 13 grandchildren will be worship of the almighty dollar (“Koll, Calm and Collected,” May 14). How much more fitting a legacy for his and our grandchildren to preserve the “company jewel” for what it truly is--an ecological jewel within reach of an untold number who could profit, not in dollars, but in a renewal of spirit in its presence. Et tu, Don Koll?

If Donald Koll is the All-American wonderful guy as depicted in the Times article, why is he destroying the World War II bunker at Bolsa Chica?

While the rest of the world celebrates the anniversary of the end of World War II and honors the contribution played by the citizens of the world in fighting this war, we in Orange County are being treated to the spectacle of having a locally significant World War II historical place being torn down by this one man.

The World War II bunker at Bolsa Chica is a magnificent structure with ceilings and walls that are made of 16-foot-thick concrete. It will take one year and $1 million of Koll’s money to demolish this structure.

If Mr. Koll had a patriotic bone in his body, he would preserve the bunker at Bolsa Chica.
