Countywide : State Agency Upholds New Fair Contract

Share

The Orange County Fair has received word from the California Department of General Services that it followed proper procedures in awarding a contract to Arizona-based Ray Cammack Shows and that the carnival operator is properly licensed to operate in California.

The fair has agreed to allow Cammack to provide rides and games at the fair for the next three years.

The other bidder for the carnival contract, B & B Amusements, filed two protests against the Orange County Fair, disputing its contract award to Cammack.

The first complaint was filed over a procedural error the fair board made awarding the contract to Cammack. In response, a second bidding was held and Cammack was again chosen.

B & B filed a second complaint after that award based on their belief that the Laveen, Ariz.-based company did not have proper permits to operate in California.

The two sides presented their cases to a state hearing officer at a hearing last month in Sacramento. The outcome of that hearing was announced last Monday.

B & B has held the fair’s carnival contract for the past 10 years.
