Getting Into Flow of Things

Share

It can be so frustrating. You throw a fabulous party with a thoughtful theme, and does anybody bother to dress for it?

No matter. At least patrons at the premiere of Alien Dance Spa at Irvine’s Metropolis nightclub Saturday got in the mood once they were there.

The invitation promised a sensual and erotic sensory experience (the E and S words were repeated several times), and the club delivered both with 800 candles, house music, roaming musicians and dancers bedecked in wild regalia. The performers ranged from students of the UC Irvine dance department to a married couple--all getting very physical.

Before you get all hot and bothered or decide to call in the prude police, understand that this is not a flesh club.

“It’s about letting It flow,” says Joe Mozdzen, promoter and host of the weekly club. “The idea evolved from our basic human urges. People go out to have fun. There’s a certain sexuality to it, a voyeurism to some degree in watching others dance and laugh.”

Gee, and we still get a thrill from just checking out what everyone’s wearing. Keep those pink Sex on the Beach cocktails flowing.
