From Staff and Wire Reports

The status of Steve Yzerman, the Detroit Red Wings’ captain who has torn cartilage in his right knee, was left up in the air, with team officials releasing little information.

Yzerman suffered the injury during the Red Wings’ 6-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night. On Sunday, team physician David Collin told the Detroit News Yzerman was expected to have arthroscopic surgery.

But a terse news release put out by the team on Monday only said, “It was determined that the team captain would be able to rejoin the lineup within two weeks. No further details are available.”
