Supervisors Denounce Stern
The Board of Supervisors on Tuesday denounced disc jockey Howard Stern for “dehumanizing remarks” he made about Selena a few days after the popular Latina singer was murdered.
Stern, who was unavailable for comment after the action, apologized in Spanish almost two months ago for making jokes about Selena Quintanilla Perez, who was shot and killed in Corpus Christi on March 31.
Nonetheless, the National Hispanic Media Coalition is still trying to get advertisers to boycott Stern’s nationally syndicated show.
Alex Nogales, who heads the coalition, said: “Hate jocks like Howard Stern have to be stopped.”
Supervisor Gloria Molina asked her colleagues to join in condemning Stern for his remarks about Mexican Americans and the Latino community.
