MISSION VIEJO : Late-Night Cable Show on Meeting’s Agenda

Share

Common issues for South County communities, such as cable television access and library management, are topics for a meeting today of mayors and city managers.

High on the agenda of the South County Intercity Liaison Committee, which meets every month, will be a late-night adult show on cable television that has drawn a number of complaints from residents.

Officials of Cox Cable say they are legally required to broadcast “Late Night With Ricky D,” which features nudity as well as advertisements for 900-line sex talk and adult magazines.

South County cities have not yet developed a strategy for dealing with the adult cable show.

“What we’ll probably do is unite with other cities and see what we can do about this,” said Richard T. Dixon, mayor of Lake Forest. “If we can unite with Mission Viejo and the other cities, we all can have a bigger impact than if we come after them from eight different directions.”

Among other topics on the agenda for the 7:30 a.m. meeting is a proposal for a joint-powers authority to operate South County libraries.

The meeting, which is open to the public, is at Mrs. Knott’s Restaurant and Bakery, 27845 Santa Margarita Parkway.
