It’s Time for Freeway Eyesores to Move on

* Art may be in the eye of the beholder, but the colored metal eyesores by the side of the Hollywood Freeway in North Hollywood surely qualify as questionable, quirky art. (“Night Treasures,” May 8).
Caltrans’ judgment in allowing it to be erected there must be challenged. Fortunately, Caltrans didn’t buy the metal sculptures with tax funds, but rather allowed the artist to use the freeway area as a free temporary display area.
The motoring public has been visually assaulted for three years with this display. How about putting a sunset provision of one year on these free display areas, so that other artists can have a chance? The public deserves better!
