Myron C. Cole; Retired Pastor, Chapman University Trustee

Myron C. Cole, retired pastor and former national moderator of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), has died. He was 86.

A life trustee of Chapman University in Orange, Cole died Sunday in Rancho Mirage.

He had most recently served as pastor of the Church of the Desert in Palm Desert, and spent many years as pastor of the large Hollywood-Beverly Christian Church in Los Angeles.

Cole had served as president of the Southern California Council of Churches and was a regular participant on KABC’s “Religion on the Line” broadcast.

He also served as president of the board of the Hollywood YMCA and on an advisory board of Cal State Los Angeles.

The pastor wrote two books, “The Nature of the Christian Ministry” and “Myron Here!”

Survivors include his wife, Lorene, four children, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family has asked that any memorial contributions be sent to the Clifford A. Cole Scholarship Fund at Chapman University.
