Young Is Not Quite an MVP as Endorser

Share

Steve Young? Super Bowl MVP. Remember? The San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback hasn’t exactly been in our faces, selling products, taking advantage of his success, has he? That may change, sort of, said agent Leigh Steinberg.

“You’re going to start seeing ads on a national level featuring Steve,” Steinberg said. “But he’s not going to be the Refrigerator. We don’t intend for him to be the pet rock of his era.”

Young has deals worth about $3 million. Meanwhile, Michael Jordan’ revenue from marketing, licensing and advertising is estimated at $31 million annually, which probably means he doesn’t need to play football to corner the endorsement market.
