The Discovery Shop, an upscale resale store in Sherman Oaks that raises money for the American Cancer Society, needs volunteers. The shop is looking for upbeat sales volunteers who have past experience in retail to make a minimum commitment of four hours a month. The store at 4454 Van Nuys Blvd., #101, Sherman Oaks., sells clothing, furniture and other items and is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call store manager Jeri C. Visually Handicapped Adults of the Valley, the only school for visually impaired people in the San Fernando Valley, needs volunteers to help in the kitchen, hand out lunches and assist clients in walking and in classes. The groupis open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The school is at 6565 Vesper Ave., Van Nuys. Contact Jean Ciampa at (818) 988-1992.
