FULLERTON : Temporary Procedure to Affect Water Taste

Share

The city is alerting customers that their tap water may taste or smell different for a few weeks.

A change in odor and taste may occur beginning June 12 because the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, which provides 25% of the city’s water, will disinfect its filtration plants with chlorine instead of chloramines from June 12 to July 17, city officials said.

They emphasized that the change will not be harmful to humans or animals.

MWD officials said the chlorine disinfection is necessary each year to ensure MWD water meets state and federal quality standards.
