Inventories Rise in April: It was the 10th straight month that stocks of unsold wholesale goods grew, outpacing a weaker rise in sales, the Commerce Department said. Inventories grew 1.2% to a seasonally adjusted $246.4 billion after a revised 1.3% increase in March. Durable goods inventories rose 1.3%; non-durable, 1.1%. Wholesale sales rose 0.5% to a seasonally adjusted $184.1 billion; they fell 1.0% in March.
