Obituaries : * Virginia H. Hill; Widow of Ex-Sheriff

Virginia H. Hill, the widow of former Ventura County Sheriff William E. Hill, died in her Ojai home this week. She was 84.

Hill, who died Monday, spent many years working as a volunteer in the community. She also worked for five years as a radio dispatcher for the Ventura office of the California Highway Patrol, donating her salary to her husband’s campaign for sheriff. He served as sheriff from 1959 to 1975.

Virginia Hill was a volunteer for Tres Condados Girl Scout Council, the American Red Cross and the Ventura County Fair Board, and packed medical supplies for Direct Relief International in Santa Barbara for 30 years.

Hill is survived by daughters Linda Hill of Ojai, Sharon Berg of Ventura and Diane Hickman of Camarillo; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai. Contributions in the name of Hill may be made to the Tres Condados Girl Scout Council and the local Red Cross.
