LOS ANGELES : Part of Palimony Suit Against Cochran Dismissed

A judge Thursday dismissed some claims in a palimony lawsuit against lawyer Johnnie L. Cochran Jr., saying the complaint his ex-lover filed seemed groundless.

But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Edward M. Ross gave Patricia Cochran 32 more days to amend some portions of her lawsuit and refile it.

“Since it’s so loosely pled,” Ross told her attorney, Raymond Hersh, “there are no real facts.”

Patricia Cochran claims that she had a 30-year relationship with the lawyer, and gave birth to their child, before he married his current wife.

She alleges that until February, Cochran had kept a promise he made to support her and their son for the rest of her life. She seeks $1 million in punitive damages, and monthly payments of $4,000.

Ross threw out her claims of fraud and deceit, breach of contract and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Her intentional infliction of emotional distress claim also will be dismissed unless Hersh finds better legal grounds for it.
